John Edward Schafer

June 8, 1944 — April 8, 2019

John Edward Schafer, 74, “Elanesse, Huntmaster of Azeroth,” “Falcon Warrior, Seeker of Justice,” and aspiring Klingon, was called to heaven by God on Monday, April 8, 2019, while surrounded by family in his home. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine June Sands and his father, Edmund Ruszala.

John was born in Los Angeles, California on June 8, 1944 and graduated from San Pedro High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1970 after serving 7 ½ years. He raised his children in Aurora, Colorado before moving to Florida and then getting to Texas a fast as he could in 2002. He married the love of his life, Dawn, on August 24, 2007, and spent the rest of his days on Earth with her.

John enjoyed working technology support at Kenneth Copeland Ministries, playing World of Warcraft and other computer games, and traveling. He was blessed to see New Zealand and visited the Fiji Islands and England. He was known for his quick sarcasm, witty sense of humor, and joy for life.
He is survived by his wife Dawn and her two children Stefanie and Jared, daughter Elizabeth “Liz,” and his son James and daughter-in-law Rhonda and grandchildren Justus, Gavin, Aurora and Ronin.
