John Paul Summers

John Paul Summers, age 89, of Southlake Texas, died May 30, 2020 at his home. John was born September 05, 1930 in Oklahoma City, OK of parents William J. and Hettye R. Summers. He graduated from Oklahoma University in 1951 and married his childhood sweetheart Wanda J. Powers. He served as a Supply Officer in the US Navy during the Korean War. John worked for the J. C. Penny Company for 40 years. He was the Manager of several different Penny stores for 27 years.
He became a Christian when he was 7 years old and as an adult he served in the Church as a Teacher, Deacon, and many other volunteer positions. He was a longtime member of Eagle Mountain International Church. He was a Rotarian for 30 years and served on many Boards of Directors. He also worked for many years with Life Unlimited, a Food Ministry, as a Warehouse Manager.
John was an avid reader and had a keen interest in History, Politics, and World Events. He loved to play golf, and watch his two favorite teams play football: The Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners.
John was the devoted husband of Wanda for 69 happy years. His love for his three sons, their wives, and families knew no bounds. He was always there for them in good times and the hard times. He will long be remembered for his friendly, out-going manner and sense of humor. His laughter and light-hearted remarks always brought peace and joy at home, work, and church activities. He will be truly missed by everyone who know him.

Chris and Carol Summers of New Braunfels, TX, Greg and Mary Summers of Arlington TX, Alan and Cathy Summers of Decatur, TX, their grandchildren; Matthew, Valerie, Melody, Cody, Clint, and Carla and spouses (6), their great grandchildren (9), sisters-in-law, Jeannie Summers of Oklahoma, OK, and many nephews and nieces.
