HURST -- Johnnie R. Byrd, 78, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at his home in Hurst.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Johnnie was born in Cuthand. He worked as a farmer and oilfield worker. He moved to Fort Worth in 1957. He joined the Iron Workers Union #263 in 1962, where he was a member for 50 years.
He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandson. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching PBR Rodeo. He liked riding bikes and water skiing. He enjoyed his life and was at peace with God.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Neva Byrd; one son, Jerry Lynn Byrd; and parents, Dodd and Alice Byrd.
Survivors: Son, Reggie Byrd and wife, Janet; grandsons, Johnnie Byrd and wife, Stephanie, and Robert Byrd; great-grandson, J.R. Byrd III; daughter, Ann and Steve Wright; and granddaughters, Michelle Berheadt and husband, Richard, and Lisa Burgess and husband, Shane.
