In Loving Memory of Jojuan (1966 - 2023)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jojuan Chapman, who departed this world on Saturday, July 15th. Jojuan, aged 56, was a beacon of love, strength, and compassion in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born in Del Rio in 1966, Jojuan lived a life defined by generosity, wisdom, and determination, guided by her faith. Her life was a testament to her unwavering belief in the love of Jesus.
She spent her collegiate years as a student at Baylor University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in English, Language Arts, and Reading Teacher Education. Jojuan served as an English teacher at Birdville High School, as well as making valuable contributions to Covenant Christian Academy and Grapevine Faith. With passion and dedication, she embraced the art of teaching, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless young minds she nurtured. Jojuan's memory will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to call her their teacher, mentor, and friend.
Jojuan married Don Chapman in 1992, and together they had three children, Chelsea, Clay, and Ryan, who were the light of her life. As a devoted mother, she poured her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding them, instilling in them the same values of love, kindness, and compassion that she embodied throughout her life.
Jojuan is survived by her three children, Chelsea, Ryan, and Clay, former husband Don Chapman, his mother Betty Chapman, her parents, Ken and Lynn Gardner, and her brother, Mark Gardner. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jennifer Gardner, her niece, Julia Gardner, her nephew, Mitch Gardner, and her two young nieces, Reese and Paige Gardner.
A viewing will be held Saturday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Sunday, July 23rd at 4:00 p.m., at Cross Creek Church in Colleyville, as we gather to honor Jojuan's life and say our farewells, seeking comfort in our shared faith and the assurance that she has found eternal peace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
