Jon Jeffrey Ryno

April 7, 1951 — February 6, 2024

Jon Jeffrey Ryno, a wonderful, devoted, caring Husband, father and friend to many, left us to join his eternal family on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 at his longtime home in Southlake, TX. Born on Saturday April 7th, 1951 to Leroy Kemp Ryno and Mary Pauline Bland Ryno, Jeff originally hailed from Roswell New Mexico. Within three months he would become a resident of State of Texas where he would choose to make his home for the rest of his life. Preceded in death by his son Justin Ryno, brother Ron Ryno, ex-wife Valeria Ryno mother of his sons, he is survived by his wife, Melanie Bruton Ryno, son Jon Travis Ryno, sister Linda Gattis (David).
Raised on the prairie in 1950’s Lubbock, Tx, he was said not to have seen his first hill until age 12. Until then he said hills, trees, streams were things only shown in school books. It was at this time his family had moved to Amarillo, Tx for a short time. It was here in Amarillo Jeff had a short experience with poultry faming in the yard until his small stock was lost in a sudden -17 degree blizzard. The family then spent a short time living in San Antonio before finally settling in Houston, where he would graduate from Houston Heights High School.
On his own, Jeff moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in 1969, where he attended the University of Texas Arlington for three years studying engineering before spending time at the Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business.
It was then his brother, Ron asked if would like to buy out some investors in a business he was involved with the chemistry for various products as well as a process for a recently invented urethane rollerskate wheel design-replacing the traditional steel or clay. They sold off the rollerskate half of the business, retaining the chemistry side.
Seeing an ad for some old circuit board manufacturing equipment at a Texas Intruments auction, he and Ron sourced the funds with the help of a family friend and owner of Fordland Houston, Richard Gallatian
Having loaned $15,000 on a verbal agreement, their friend Richard called every day as well as lent help whenever it was needed. It was through this process that Jeff credits this man for pushing him to a path of real success.
So with the $20,000 dollars in total they sourced for the new equipment, their company, Cuplex would come to be a $60 million dollar company based in Garland , TX and Guadalajara, Mexico, later sold to Bain Capital.
Jeff after a few years in bored retirment began a concerte company which closed a few years later.
Jeffs legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enought to have known him. His light shines on in the lives he touched with love , warmth, and kindness.
