With heavy hearts, the family of Jordan David Ward, aged 30 of Denton, Texas, announces his passing on September 19th, 2023.
Jordan David Ward was born on October 15th, 1992 to loving and devoted parents, Laurie (Gebhardt) and James “Jim” Ward in Salisbury, Maryland. He grew up in a rowdy household as one of four boys, and there were always events to go to and adventures to be had. Through Jim’s work, the family's network of friends grew as they moved around the country, with only Jordan, his brother Jack and his parents settling in Texas. Jordan found a place working at Kroger within their management staff. Also in Texas, Jordan met and fell deeply in love with the man who would become his fiancé, Zackery Charles Serna. They began building a life together in Denton.
As an October baby, Jordan always held a special love of Halloween. During the fall he could often be found enamored with decorations, making plans for pumpkin patches, and watching seasonal movies. Jordan held a distinct fondness for camping and his favorite outing was his families annual fall trip to Whitewater State Park in Minnesota. His life seemed to follow a unique soundtrack, and his appreciation for music showed it. Jordan was also a friend to animals, and had several most cherished pets.
Jordan is preceded in death by his grandfathers, David R. Ward and Marvin K. Farr.
Jordan is survived by his parents, Jim and Laurie Ward; his fiancé, Zack Serna; his brothers, Nicholas Ward of Wheeling West Virginia, Benjamin Ward of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, and Jack Ward of Fort Worth, Texas; his nieces, Allison Ward and Charlotte Ward; his grandmothers, Sharon E. Ward and Patricia A. Farr; his grandfather John R. Gebhardt; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends who’s lives he touched deeply.
A visitation will be held for Jordan on Sunday, September 24th, 2023 from noon to two p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home, located in Keller, Texas.
A funeral service will follow directly after the visitation in the Lucas Funeral Home Chapel at two o’clock p.m.
The funeral service will be livestreamed for family and friends unable to attend the service.
The family invites those in attendance to join them for a reception and time of fellowship following the funeral service in the reception room and outdoor patio at the funeral home from three to five o’clock p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Jordan’s name to the
ASPCA
in honor of his love of animals.
