In loving memory of Joseph B. Koczot, 97, who passed away on August 19, 2022 in Grapevine, Texas. Joseph was born February 13, 925 in Chicago, IL to George and Henrietta Koczot. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and Tilden Technical High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1943 before he completed his Senior year in High school. While in the Army he joined the Ranger 3rd Battalion and volunteered to be a medic. He fought in Italy, where he was captured and spent 15 months in a German POW Camp. He received a Purple Heart for his combat injuries. After his discharge from the Army, he met the love of his life, Jane, and they were married on May 5, 1950. They were married for 64 years until Jane’s death in 2014. He is survived by his sons Thomas (Elizabeth) of Grapevine, TX, James Koczot, Ronald (Tammy) Koczot of Mokena, IL, daughter Karen (Michael) of Traverse City, MI, and sister Natalie of Kerville, TX.
Funeral Mass will be said on October 1, 2022 at St. Michael Church in Orland Park, IL at 11:00am.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL.
