Joy Lynn Hewitt, 79, of Bedford, TX went to be with our Lord on January 10, 2024.
Joy was born on December 16, 1944 in Merkel, TX to the late George Davis Byrom and Leta Faye (Payne) Byrom. She was the baby of the family and the smallest, but she was feisty always looking out for her siblings. She graduated from Trent High School in 1963 and went on to Glenn and Lottie’s Cosmetology school in Abilene, TX. She met and fell in love with a young airman, Marvin Delois Hewitt Jr. in Sweetwater, TX and they married August 12, 1967. Marvin and Joy were inseparable.
Joy and Marvin moved to Euless, TX in 1970, where they welcomed their late son Jason McClure Hewitt in 1971. Joy enjoyed her time as a homemaker and loved hosting all of Jason’s friends at their home. Their home was always open to friends and family. They met and made lifelong friends who became like family there on Fair Oaks Blvd. Marvin and Joy opened JMJ Trucking in Grapevine, TX in 1987. Their business thrived and was a family affair. Jason was the apple of Joy’s eye and Marvin and Jason were her boys.
Joy was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, and Nana to her granddaughter Francesca (Chessi) JoyLynn Hewitt. Joy adored being a Nana and Chessi brought her so much happiness. Chessi was her princess.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, beloved son, brothers; Bobby and Leslie, sister; Janice Lyons.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Francesca Hewitt; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Hewitt; brother-in- law, Kenneth Lyons; nieces, Kelly Lyons and Stacy Cortesano and her husband Derek; great nieces Susie, Bella and Olivia and great nephew, Luca Cortesano, and a host of extended family and lifelong friends.
