Joyce Ladelle Knight, affectionally known to her loved ones as Joyce, Mom, Mama and GMama peacefully passed away on September 20, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 85. She was born on July 14, 1938, in Briggs, Texas, to proud parents John and Hazel Smith.
Joyce will be joyously reunited with her beloved husband, Glenn Knight, her brother James David Smith, and her parents John and Hazel Smith, who preceded her in death. Left to cherishher memory are her daughters Jean Laborde and husband Barclay, and Missy Trusty and husband Sean, as well as her cherished grandchildren Landon Ludlow and his fiancé Claire, Ryan and Kristin Ludlow, Kathryn and Chris Slater, Taryn Trusty, and Ty Trusty. She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren Frances Ladelle and George Mark Slater.
Joyce attended Briggs High School and later Texas State University. However, Joyce's greatest pride was found in her career as a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and dear friend.
Joyce and Glenn had antique and craft businesses that Joyce continued after Glenn’s passing. She was an exceptional seamstress and had a talent for creative decorating, especially crafting beautiful floral wreaths and arrangements. Joyce was an excellent Bridge player that brought fun and healthy competition to every game.
Joyce had a strong connection to her faith and worshiped at the First United Methodist Church of Hurst. She particularly cherished her Sunday school class members throughout the years.
Visitation for Joyce will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, September 25th, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 26th, at 10am at the First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Following the service, Joyce will be laid to rest at BlueBonnnet Hills in Colleyville, Texas by Glenn’s side.
