Joyce Marie Tice, 87, went to be with Jesus on August 8, 2021. She was at home surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce was born on September 18, 1933 in Goose Creek, TX to Jesse Jordan Ford and Maycel Elvaldo Lunday Ford. She was one of six children.
She attended elementary through high school in Baytown, TX. Then she went to TCU which is where she met the love of her life, Bob. The two of them met on a blind date and have been married just shy of 67 years. Joyce graduated from TCU with a degree in Religion and a minor in Church Music.
After graduation, Joyce and Bob began their family of six. They adopted their first and second child and then took off to serve as missionaries in the Congo, where they both taught. After serving in Africa, they came back to the states, settling in Texas where they adopted their third and fourth child.
Joyce always had a love for the little children, serving as a bilingual teacher in the Fort Worth ISD until she retired. Teaching these little ones brought her great joy.
Joyce never missed an opportunity to go to church. One of the things she loved most is music. She was always looking for an opportunity to play the piano, the organ, sing in the choir or play hand bells.
Joyce also enjoyed working in her yard. She loved any type of plant, flower or tree. She would spend hours working in her garden, wildflowers were one of her favorites.
Although she enjoyed teaching, loved music and spent many a day gardening, her family brought her the greatest joy. She was the true matriarch of the family bringing everyone together and keeping everyone close. She and Bob instilled many traditional values within their home. She was as true Proverbs 31 wife and mother.
Joyce Marie Tice is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Lee Tice of Hurst, TX, her daughter Sharon Richardson and husband Tommy of Colleyville, TX, her son Eric Tice and wife Chica of Hurst, TX, her daughter Christi Tice of Hurst, TX, and her grandchildren Bethany, Christopher, Robert, Paige, and Chandler.
She is preceded in death by her father Jesse Ford, her mother Maycel Ford, her brothers William Carol, Samuel Lansing, Milton Brown and Jesse Jr, her sister Ellen Mae and her youngest son, Teri Lyn.
