Juana Emilia “Emy” Matassa from Fort Worth, TX. was called home by the Lord on Friday November 27th in Fort Worth, TX. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, the best mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the truest friend, to all that knew and loved her. She was born on May 3rd in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Agustina Mingal and Gaspar Urnizius. Emy graduated as a School Teacher in Buenos Aires and taught 2nd and 3rd grade. She fell in love with and eventually married Fidel J. Matassa on February 7th 1959. Emy quit teaching school to start her family. After moving to the USA, she decided to change her career to something that would help her learn to speak English and better assimilate to the American culture. She worked as a Cosmetologist for the remainder of her working career. Emy was an accomplished painter, having many 1st and 2nd place paintings at professional art shows and the State Fair of Texas; additionally, she was involved in many artistic endeavors. Emy was a champion Tango dancer, an incredible cook, knitted and sewed, and excelled at many more things. All that knew her will surely attest that Emy was the Proverbs 31 woman. She was a cancer survivor for 18 years thanks to the most excellent care of Dr. Steve Perkins and her Lord Jesus. Her most important attribute is that she was an Evangelist and used her testimony to share Jesus with everyone she met.
Emy is survived by husband, Fidel Jose Matassa of Ft Worth, TX; Son: Sergio Omar Matassa and Daughter-in-law Beth Joy Matassa of Ben Wheeler, TX; Daughter: Monica Gabriela Gregory and Son-in-law Christopher David Gregory from Ft Worth, TX: Son: Alejandro Ricardo Matassa from Southlake, TX.
Grandchildren: Eric Sandman, Joe Atinsky, Tawanna Baker, Tonia Barnes, Susan Matassa, Sara Hanshew, David Matassa, Daniel Gregory, Amarise Gregory, and Eliana Gregory.
Great Grand Children: Jasmine Neely, Carissa Graves, Kalie Schroth, McKenna Barnes, Jeremiah Barnes, Elisabeth Sandman, Annelise Sandman, Caeli Hanshew, and Noel Hanshew.
Siblings: Ana Suares, Amalia De La Rosa
Emy was preceded in death by parents Gaspar Urnizius and Agustina Urnizius and granddaughter Gabriela Gregory.
A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday December 2, 2020 at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 S. Main St., Keller, TX 76248.
