Heaven gained a sassy angel on March 15, 2017, when Katherine Juanell Atkins was called to her heavenly home.

Visitation: 12 to 2 p.m. Monday at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home.
Born January 26, 1925, in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Addison High School. Juanell was a retired nurse, a member of the Eastern Star Polytechnic Chapter #420, South Fort Worth Chapter # 835, past matron of Burleson Chapter; a member of Burleson COPS for the past 16 years, where she loved being involved and keeping active and everyone knew her as Grannie.
Juanell was preceded in death by her father and mother, Commodore and Ethel Atkins.
Survivors: Daughters, Sue Hayes and husband, Keith, Geri Beeson and husband, Bill; Son, Jerry Smirl, Sr.; grandchildren, Bruce Gilbert and wife, Kristy, Brent Gilbert and Traci, Rhonda Taylor, Tim Taylor and wife Charlotte, Jerry Smirl, Jr. ; great-grandchildren, Brice Gilbert, Brooke Gilbert, Jeff Hayes, Mandy Benes, Johnathon Hill, Treat Rowland, Christopher Taylor, Crystal Avery, and Cobey Taylor. Her caring angel Martha Carpenter; and compassionate loving nurses Shawna and Sherri.
Juanell was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that was truly loved and anybody that met her would never have forgotten her. She had such spirit, was strong willed, and very caring. She is already missed and our world is forever changed but we will cherish the memories we made with her.
