Judith Diane Williams, also known as Judy, 83 was our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister-in-law, and devoted friend passed away on December 1st, 2024, at her home in North Richland Hills.
Even though we are deeply saddened by the loss of her beautiful presence with us, we are rejoicing that she is in the loving arms of our Savior.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn Elizabeth and James Weldon Higginbotham, as well as her husband, Fred Dean Williams, who passed away October 26, 2017.
Judy is survived by her three daughters, Lisa Ballard, Lindsay Williams, and Leslie Duncan and husband, Mitch. She has 5 grandchildren, Jacob Ballard and wife Brittany, Colson Ballard and wife Ashley, Clayton Ballard and wife Helen, Ethan and Maddie Duncan. Judy is also blessed with seven great grandchildren.
Judith Diane was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 19, 1941. Judy lived in Monahans, Texas for most of her early years into high school. Many wonderful memories were made there. Her family would often take picnics to the sand dunes just outside of Monahans. Very close beloved friends were made and have kept in touch through the years. Her senior year of high school, her family moved to Abilene, Texas when her father got a job with Southwestern Bell.
Judy, then attended McMurry College in Abilene. Judy was devoted to her studies, and she graduated with a business degree. During her college career, she met and fell head over heels with the love of her life, Fred Dean Williams. They were married in Abilene on December 9, 1961. Judy and Fred were the perfect example of “opposites attract.” Fred was outgoing, a people person, and always on the go, whereas Judy was calm, always thinking carefully about decisions before making them, and a planner in all situations. It seemed to work really well for them and got them through 55 years of a happy and fulfilling marriage to one another.
Fred got a job with Farmers and Merchants Bank, which led to their move to De Leon, Texas. During their early years living in De Leon, they were actively involved in the First United Methodist Church. Later, they helped plant a church, Trinity Worship Center. During this time at Trinity, they followed the call of the Holy Spirit to go on several lay witness missions. Not only did they share their love for the Lord but also made lifelong friends.
Both Fred and Judy were always actively involved in their daughter’s activities and sports. After leaving the banking world, they moved their family to the Dallas/Ft Worth area in 1987, where Fred began building custom homes and Judy became an elementary school librarian in Ft Worth. Ten years later Judy retired from the school system and became Fred’s full-time bookkeeper.
Fred and Judy were active members of Bedford Methodist and Gateway Church, leading life groups and serving. Mom loved being part of a ladies Bible study group and loved the friendships that developed.
Judy loved playing Bridge with friends, she enjoyed all things crafty and was very talented with any projects she put her hands to. She loved working on puzzles with her girls and caring for her plants. Family and friends will all say that Judy was also an excellent cook. There were so many wonderful memories made around and at her table – great food, cherished conversations and many laughs.
But most of all, Judy will be remembered for her devotion and love for God. She never lost her faith through good times or bad. She helped her family weather many storms. Even after Judy was diagnosed with breast cancer, she continued to walk beside and mentor women of all ages. She shared her faith in our Savior openly and was an encouragement to so many in their walk with Christ. Judy was a powerful prayer warrior and always spoke truth, encouragement, and wisdom to those who needed it.
We, the family would like to thank Tenderheart Hospice and Cambridge Caregivers for the care and compassion they showed our Mom during her final days. We would also like to thank all of the friends and family that have loved and supported our Mom with prayers, cards, calls, and visits.
