On June 16th of 2024, in the darkest of the morning, our world shifted in monumental ways on its axis (or however we are positioned on this beautiful blue and green place). Justin David Horn, 43 years of age, unexpectedly died after he was taken from his Horn Pack of Four’s home for the last physical time while his innocent two children slumbered under God’s gift of peace. The doting & spoiling husband to Angela - obsessed & ever-present daddy to Declan and Ramey - mourning father to a baby he got to hold for the first time when arriving at The Gates - loving son of David Horn and Kerrie Ramey Horn - cherished blended family with Carol Horn, Michelle Kiker, & Anna Darling - adored addition to an entire Cox clan - a loved one to more people than imaginable is now basking in Heaven’s glory. While so many may live their lives with a gaping piece of their hearts missing Justin, they will forever honor him by laughing maniacally out loud, seeking answers and truths in all ways, looking to the Lord for guidance, fighting for what is right, grounding in God’s nature, and making moments come alive with music.
Justin didn’t seek to connect, but that is how he was crafted at birth. Whether that was joining people together, through perfectly planned playlists, taking the “fun way” when traveling, showing off his vivacious moves that brought everyone to the dance floor, spitting out dad jokes and pranks that earned the biggest belly laughs, having genuine and authentic conversations about anything under the “sun,” or his mere presence in a space, you were drawn to his light. Even Sasquatch couldn’t hide from Justin.
This man would gladly take on the world for any loved one, especially his blessed babies holding his pride and joy. A lifetime of health obstacles never held him back from embracing each day. He always seemed to know who he was, what he was made of and for, and was, obviously, made for more. With his daily regimen of supplements (and insulin) and the spirit of a warrior, Justin was invincible. Until he wasn’t.
He was not known to be quiet, compliant, nor obedient (and thank you, Jesus, for that), yet balanced it with such gentleness and compassion. May we all learn to be more like Justin because we are all better for him allowing us to know him.
