Kara Quinn Mulcahy Bauer, 57, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2021 at her home in Southlake, TX. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on December 29, 1963, the daughter of Ronald Dean and Paula Johnson Mulcahy. Kara was raised in Waukesha, WI. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and held a Political Science Degree. She married Mark William Bauer in Madison, WI on September 29, 1990, and they relocated to Safety Harbor, FL.
Kara was a Radio News and Public Service Director on-air personality along with Nick Sanders for more than a decade. She was best known on Tampa Bay Coast 107.3 and JO 101.5 Nick and Kara. Listeners loved her quick sense of humor and wit as well as her inherent intelligence and credibility. She enjoyed making people smile and laugh. Out of her experiences, and more importantly, were her opportunities she had to give back to the community and those in need. From Toys for Tots Christmas, to school drives in the fall, and of course the support she lent to the local Humane Society and Suncoast Animal league, Kara made a lasting impact and motivated people to give from their hearts to help others. Kara was always genuine, always sincere, and very much enjoyed making people laugh and smile. After retiring from Radio she ran for City of Safety Harbor Commissioner and later as Vice Mayor. Kara resigned from her position in October of 2006 to move to Texas when Mark was offered a job in the Fort Worth area. Kara and her husband were active in the Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, FL and recently St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Keller, TX.
Kara is survived by her husband, Mark, two daughters, Emma and Hannah both of Texas, her parents, two brothers, Robert Mulcahy (Jodi) of Port St. Lucie, FL Murray Bollinger (Maria) of Winchester, MA , two nieces Erin Hoppenworth (Andrew) and Kristin Mulcahy (Mike) both of Florida.
