In Loving Memory of Kathy Ann Pruitt

Kathy Ann Pruitt, a vibrant spirit born on September 12, 1943, in Sherman, Texas, was the daughter of Staff Sergeant W.C. Estes Jr. and Virginia Needham Estes, stationed there during WWII. Raised in the charming "Gingerbread City" of Waxahachie, Texas, Kathy's journey was marked by academic excellence, graduating with honors from Waxahachie High School in 1961.

Kathy married her beloved Pat Pruitt of Itasca, Texas, in August 1963, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned six decades. A proud graduate of North Texas University, Kathy embraced her calling as a teacher, starting her career in Itasca before moving to Richland Hills in Fort Worth. There, she dedicated 31 years to the Birdville Independent School District, touching countless lives with her passion for education.

Kathy and Pat raised two wonderful sons, Matt and Drew Pruitt. After retirement, the couple embarked on a new adventure, moving to the serene mountains of Red River, New Mexico, for seven joyous years before settling in the quirky, artistic haven of Taos. Kathy's creative spirit flourished in these vibrant communities.

An accomplished author, Kathy wrote two children's books about a beloved cat named Si' Si', published by Pruggus Publishing Company. Her love for poetry was evident in her annual tradition of sharing a poem a day on Facebook during National Poetry Month. A talented artist, Kathy's pastel and acrylic paintings, along with her murals, continue to beautify Red River and homes across Taos.

Kathy's passion for drama and the arts led her to participate in melodramas and reader's theater in Taos, reflecting her deep love for storytelling. Her compassion extended to her feline friends, adopting numerous strays throughout her colorful life.

In October 2023, due to health challenges, Kathy and Pat moved back to North Richland Hills, Texas. Pat passed away in December 2023 after battling bone cancer. Despite these hardships, Kathy spent the past nine months creating cherished memories with her lifelong friends and family while establishing one final book club at Stone Creek Senior Living.

Kathy embraced life's challenges with laughter and grace. Her warmth and joy were infectious, and she never met a stranger. Kathy and Pat celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August 2023, a testament to their enduring love.

Kathy leaves behind her cherished sons, Matt and his wife Camille, along with their sons Jackson and Tyler; and Drew and his wife Samantha, along with their daughters Adrianna and Talia. Kathy's legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Kathy passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 20, 2024. Her vibrant spirit and beautiful contributions to her family and friends will never be forgotten.
