For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12 RVS
Kaylee Jordan Bicknell was born on July 1, 1991. She was born with several internal defects that almost took her life as an infant. She lived in significant pain every single day of her life. Despite this trial, Kaylee was a beautiful, precious and happy child. She adored her big brother Daniel, and her sister Ashley was her “twin” and best friend. Kaylee was very smart and athletic, and excelled in both the classroom and in athletics. Some of her best work was on the football field, where she was in the Color Guard for the award-winning L.D. Bell High School band, and donated her two front teeth to the cause. Everyone on the field was appalled when she finished the routine without dropping the flag, and marched off the field with blood streaming down her face and uniform! That was Kaylee; she knew how to take pain. From that point of her life forward, she took a lot of pain. She lost many close friends to the horrors of drug addiction. She had a lot to deal with, suffered considerably, and tried her best to do right and make others happy. Her battles with the enemy were constant, crushing and severe. Satan came to steal, to kill, and destroy. He did his best against Kaylee, and with her death, it might appear that he won. BUT HE DIDN’T. Kaylee loved Jesus and He was her Saviour. Despite her battles, she never lost her love for God, and always knew He was there for her no matter the depths of the things she had done. On some of her worst nights she would fall asleep listening to songs about her Saviour. So, despite all the bad in her life, and it was considerable, she sits now in Heaven with her Lord Jesus, and she is free of all the pain and suffering, all the guilt and shame, the addiction, and the other ills of her earthly body. And best of all, we who are saved like her will see her again! Her brightest light and most precious thing she leaves behind is her son, Gabe. She loved him with all her heart, and was so proud of the young man he is. If she had one wish, it would have been to remain here for him. But in the divine grace of God, she is gone. We who are left are suffering with our loss and grief, but we also rejoice mightily that Kaylee is happy, and free of the pain of this world. We love you more than we can say, Kaylee, and we miss you terribly. But we will see you again, and until that day, we know that you are watching over us. Your Mom, your Daddy, Dan, Ashley, and Gabe.
Kaylee was loved and will be deeply missed by her family who are left to cherish her memory: her parents, Rick and Susan Bicknell; brother, Daniel Bicknell; sister, Ashley Bicknell; precious son, Gaberiel Joel Bicknell; maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Miner; paternal grandparents, Richard and Kathryn Bicknell; and numerous aunts, uncle, cousins and extended family members.
Who can satisfy my soul, like you?
Who on earth could comfort me, and love me like you do?
Who could ever be more faithful, true?
I will trust in You,
I will trust in You, my God.
