Kenneth Walter Koeritz

June 1, 1931 — June 28, 2023

June 1, 1931-June 28, 2023
Kenneth W. Koeritz
Kenneth Walter Koeritz Sr, went to be with his Lord and Savior June 28, 2023. He was born to Walter and Esther Koeritz in Oak Park, Illinois, June 1, 1931. He was baptized as an infant at home and confirmed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at St Paul Lutheran Church, Melrose Park, IL in 1945.
Immediately following his graduation from Proviso High School in 1949, his family moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois where he met the love of his life Dorothy Heidorn. They were married on December 19, 1953 and celebrated 69 years of marriage in December. He was in Navy ROTC at Northwestern University and graduated in 1954, with an electrical engineering degree. After graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Charles R Ware most of his career in New Jersey and Rhode Island.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Ken began his career as an Electrical Engineer, moving around the country until his employment at LTV/Vought brought his young family to Arlington, Texas. He had two deployments with LTV to New Orleans and Ft. Walton Beach, FL creating many fun memories for his family. His career spanned 1964 to 1994. In addition to his career as an Electrical Engineer he and Dorothy owned Stretch and Sew Fabrics in South Arlington for ten years. In retirement he and Dorothy escaped the Texas summers and enjoyed many adventures in their motor home visiting the East Coast, the Canadian provinces, Door County WS and Vancouver Island. They also enjoyed leisurely visits with friends and relatives across the U.S. He transformed into a local fisherman at each of their destinations.
Ken was a long time member of Peace Lutheran Church, Hurst, Texas where he faithfully served as an elder, leader of Men’s bible study and visitation lay leader to homebound families. He was a lifelong reader, learner and loved anything electronic.
Ken was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Koeritz, and four children Heather (Ricky Lee) Schneider, Ken (Alice’) Koeritz Jr., Joel Koeritz and Cara Koeritz. Five grandchildren: Laura Hobbs and husband Allen, Blake Koeritz and wife Jessica, Jeff Schneider and wife Lindsey, Courtney Miller and husband Zack, Caitlin McMullen and husband Mark. He and Dorothy also have eight great-grandchildren: Arianna and Ainsley Hobbs, Colton and Colby Koeritz, Carson and Stella Cait Miller, and Fletcher and Mavis Grace McMullen. Ken loved recording stories, especially his own creation of Edward the Squirrel, who’s stories he shared with his grandchildren.
The family takes great comfort in knowing he rests with his Lord. We also wish to thank his lovely caregivers Tumi Hutamo and Bennie Mutheu.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of his life at Peace Lutheran Church, 941 W Bedford-Euless Rd, Hurst Texas on July 12, 2023. Visitation will be at 10:00 am and the service will start at 11:00. He will be interred at the National Cemetery in Grand Prairie.
