At 11:41 P.M. on Sept 22, 2015, Dr. L. H. Coleman went to dwell in the house of the Lord. He loved the words of Psalm 23, “Surely goodness and mercy would follow me all the days of my life.” He dedicated his life in pursuit of being a Godly man and a good steward.
Born on August 21, 1929 in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the oldest son of Edgar and Mazie Coleman. He attended East High in Nashville, Tennessee, Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, and Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth. He served as pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Ark., Rose Hill Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas, and was the B.S.U. director at Memphis State University. He founded Coleman Stewardship Services.
On Oct. 21, 1948, he married Anne Marie Chamberlin. He survivors include: his loving wife of 66 years, brother and his wife, James and Patsy Coleman of Gainesville, Florida; his two children, Dr. Paul Coleman and wife Denise of Odessa, and daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hedgecock of Bedford. He had three grandchildren: Blake Hedgecock of North Richland Hills,Dr. Cole Hedgecock and wife Christy of Rowlett., and Cariann Cantrell of Bedford, nine great grandchildren, and numerous other loved ones.
Viewing is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25th at 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line in Hurst. The funeral will be at 2:00 Sept. 26th at North Richland Hills Baptist Church located at 6955 Blvd. 26 North Richland Hills, 76180. A private graveside burial will follow the service.
