Larry Earl Adams, 79 of Hurst, TX entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 15, 2018. Larry was born on December 8, 1938 in Port Arthur, TX to Earl Wilton Adams and Jocie Ann (Overturf) Adams.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Aubrey Wayne Adams. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lela Aline (Cash) Adams of Hurst, TX, son Matthew Alan Adams of Arlington, TX, and brother Wilton Lee Adams, Sr. of Huckabay, TX.
An army veteran of the Vietnam war, Larry received his Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Arts Degree in American History from Lamar University and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) with a focus on Civil War reconstruction in Texas from North Texas State University (University of North Texas).
A prolific reader and avid lover of anything, “Texas,” Larry was hired as the expert consultant for the city of El Paso, TX during the Texas sesquicentennial in 1986 and was head of the history department at El Paso Community College for over 35 years.
Larry’s final place of rest will be the Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, TX with a graveside service at 11 am.
