Larry Dean Janzen passed away at Community Healthcare of Texas-Hospice House at Hugely on December 9, 2022. He was born in Newton, Kansas on November 16, 1946, to Leroy and Elsie (Nachtigal) Janzen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne, sisters Pauline and Judith.
Larry is survived by his wife Judy (Rhoades); his son Gary; daughter Jodi; granddaughter Chloe; grandsons Jimmy, Jason, Celso; brothers Marlyn (Dorothy), Glenn (Lois), Norman (June), sister Delores (Wes) Hiebert and many nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
After graduating from Halstead High School in 1964, Larry went to Hutchinson Community College and area Vocational School for mechanics.
He met the love of his life (Judy) at a local diner in Halstead, Ks. He teased her, crushed on her, and fell in love. They were married on April 18th, 1971. After time they added their son, daughter, granddaughter, daughter in-law (Edna), grandsons, and future son in-law (Clint Crawford) to their loving family. Larry enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews grow into amazing people. He loved his family with a Christian man’s heart.
He was your average man that enjoyed his job in the lumber business for over thirty years, retired, went back to work and retired again. They just couldn’t seem to get rid of him. He had several hobbies over the years, collecting Happy Meal toys, working on cars, tinkering in the garage, and his final hobby of repairing and rebuilding old Singer sewing machines. His family and friends watched his passions bring him great joy. He was a thrifty man always after best (cheapest) deal he could find and proud to say he made good money.
In his seventy-six years, Larry raised a little hell, caused a few problems, laughed a lot, and he would do all with a “Larry smile” always on his face. His presence will be deeply missed and remembered daily.
