Larry Paul Rexroat, 75 of Frisco beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021. He was born on October 23, 1945 in Gordon, Palo Pinto County, Texas to the late Mary Elizabeth “Bettie” (Clepper) and Paul Leonard Rexroat. While Larry was attending Texas A&M University, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1967. During the Vietnam War, he was a sergeant in the transportation unit in Pleiku he was also awarded a Purple Heart. After his return, he graduated from Tarleton State University with his Bachelors and then later his Masters Degree. He began his career with governmental agencies, first with the EPA and then retired from the General Services Administration (GSA). Larry also was a committed educator at Tarrant County Community College where he was an adjunct professor and taught biology, chemistry, and anatomy and physiology. Larry was a devout Christian and he loved his Lord and Savior. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he studied biblical education. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He had an infamous dry sense of humor and loved telling corny jokes. He had a deep affection for all animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of nearly 40 years, Kathy Jewellyn Jones Rexroat, infant daughter, Robyn Elizabeth Rexroat, and sister, Mary Jeanne Hailey. Survivors include his wife of ten years, Myrna Curry Rexroat or Frisco; his two daughters, Laura Jeanne Rexroat Sink and husband, Robert of Saginaw and Rebecca Anne Miller and her husband, Kendall and their son, Joshua of Fort Worth; two stepsons, Kevin Sizemore and wife, Holly and Gregory Sizemore and wife, Audre all of Tennessee; brother, Steve Rexroat and wife, Lynn of Flower Mound; sisters, Lola Loffman of New York and Sue Rogers of Hurst; as well as 10 additional grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday June 5, 2021 also at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst with committal service at 2:00 P.M. at New Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, Texas with Rev. Dr. Nathanial Hearne officiating.
