Laura Dianne Carroll, 66, of Keller, Texas, devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister passed away peacefully at VITAS Hospice in Fort Worth on March 4, 2016, after a lengthy battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Laura was born in Marshall, MO and moved to the St. Louis, MO area with her family during early childhood. She graduated from Lindbergh High School in St. Louis in 1968 and earned a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1972, where she was an active member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Shortly after graduation from college, Laura moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she began her career with Blue Cross-Blue Shield in 1974. This was also where she first met her loving husband, John, and they were later married in 1978.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed solving puzzles, and playing card and board games. At home you could always find her with a Kindle Reader, Crossword Puzzle book, or deck of cards in hand. But most of all, Laura cherished quality time with her children and extended family members. Whether it be vacations and travel, the holidays, sports events, or just Sunday dinners and a raucous game of Cards Against Humanity. She loved it all.
Laura will be sorely missed by her family, friends and co-workers because of her warmth, generosity, courageous spirit, and selflessness. She was a member of White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, and an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels through her current employer, TD Auto Finance.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Rahing. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, John Carroll, children Melanie and Daniel Carroll, Mother Pearl Rahing, brothers Charles and Berry Rahing, and their families.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for March 20th at Brio Italian Grille in Southlake. Donations can be made in her memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at
