Laura Sue Rhoads

November 23, 1951 — July 1, 2023

Laura Sue Rhoads, age 71, beloved wife, mother and affectionately known as Daa to her grandchildren went to be with the Lord on July 1st, 2023. Sue was born in Dallas, Texas on November 23rd, 1951, to Lelan Virgil and Alma Nadine Ingram. She was preceded in life by her sister Nancy and followed by her younger brother Lee. Sue married her perfect match, Eddie Rhoads while still in college on December 20th, 1971.

Sue spent her life making things beautiful. She made a beautiful and loving 49-year marriage and home. She made a beautiful family and life for her children and grandchildren. Most importantly, she made a beautiful faith in and walk with the Lord. Sue could and would do it all. She could sing. She had a beautiful soprano singing voice which helped drown out the rest of her family's sharp and off-key voices on Sunday mornings. She could sew. Whether stitching up a sleeve or making clothes, blankets or quilts for the grandchildren. Sue could make a home beautiful! Her eye for spaces and making them feel like home would put Chip and JoJo to shame. She made Christmas seem like a visit to the North Pole and Thanksgiving like a real autumn day, which in Texas is not an easy thing to do. In those spaces she made beautiful memories with family and friends. Sue's houses were filled with warmth, love, laughter and a sweet spirit that all matched her own. She will be greatly missed but leaves behind a legacy of faith, family and trying to make things beautiful in the world.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband Eddie Rhoads, parents Nadine Ingram of Reese, TX and Lelan Ingram of Mesquite, TX. She is survived by her two children, Amanda Huggins and Matthew Rhoads, their spouses Lanny and Jennifer, five grandchildren, Landon, Hannah and Benjamin Huggins and Hadley and Kinsley Rhoads; her sister Nancy Keiser and her brother Lee Ingram; six nieces; one nephew.
