Laura Kathleen Wayland

Laura Kathleen Hollahan Wayland died peacefully in Grapevine, Texas, on Tuesday, February 11.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Alan Wayland, son Evan Wayland, parents, Steve Hollahan and Barbara Hollahan, sister Pattie Lawrence and brother Tommy Hollahan and their families.

Kathleen was born on March 8, 1964, in Austin, Texas, to Steve and Barbara Hollahan. She graduated from The University of Texas in Austin in 1987 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She worked at Florence school district as the band and choir director. She married Alan, her college sweetheart, in 1988. After moving to California, Kathleen began working for the Bakersfield school district at all levels as a Choir, Strings, and Color Guard instructor. Alan and Kathleen moved back to Texas in 1989 and she was the choir director and assisted with the high school band at Southlake Carroll school district. She taught music education in the Haslet and Grapevine Colleyville school district at Bransford elementary. She taught fourth grade as a classroom teacher at Cannon Elementary in Grapevine until the couple welcomed Evan into their home in 2001. Kathleen began taking Evan to Kindermusik and became a certified Kindermusik instructor. She opened Kindermusik With Kat! In 2002 having touched countless lives over the years.

Kathleen was an accomplished singer and musician and spent most of her time sharing her love of music with others. She was energetic and dedicated to teaching, loved to plan trips and travel as much as possible, and was passionate about her family and especially her Kindermusik babies.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine Texas. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grapevine Church of Christ at 525 N. Park Blvd. in Grapevine, Texas.
