Lawon Bonham

August 29, 1935 — September 11, 2020

Lawon Bonham earned her victory over life on September 11, 2020 in Keller, Texas at the age of 85. She was born to Ralph and Opal Moore on August 29, 1935 in Dill City, Oklahoma. She grew up on a farm in Delhi, Oklahoma where she attended the Delhi Schools. She lived one mile from the man she grew up to love and marry at the age of 16, Lee Bonham. They were married 57 ½ years and had two children Vickie Bonham and Ron Bonham. They moved to Lawton, Oklahoma while Lee was serving in the Army then to Dallas, Texas. From Dallas they moved to Euless, Texas in 1960, where they lived about 13 years before moving to Bedford, Texas. While in Bedford, Lawon was the co-owner of Christian Supply Center. She said that was her ministry and her way of helping churches and teachers. They eventually opened a total of 3 stores, in Bedford, Fort Worth, and Ennis. They employed several employees, but Lawon never drew a paycheck. They sold the store approximately 15 years later.

Lawon loved God, family, friends, church and just about any type of animal that showed up at her door. She loved hosting parties, Bonham reunions, and ladies Bible class Christmas parties. She always opened her home for any family or church gathering. She was a devoted wife, mom, mother in-law, aunt, Mema, Nona, step-sister, sister-in-law daughter and friend. After moving from Bedford, they moved to North Richland Hills, Texas to build their dream home where they could host bigger parties. They lived there for over 20 years then returned to Euless where they built their last home.

Lawon was a baptized believer of over 70 years, and a longtime member of Airport Freeway Church of Christ in Euless, Texas. She served as an Elder’s wife for 37 years, children’s Bible class teacher, and a mentor to young women and girls.

Lawon is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Opal Moore, her cherished husband of 57 ½ years, Lee Bonham. Left behind to mourn her passing: daughter Vickie Bonham of Keller, TX; son Ron Bonham and wife Patti of Bedford, TX; grandson Chad Bonham and wife Chelsey of Colleyville, TX; granddaughter Danielle Holman and husband Greg of Hurst, TX; granddaughter Kristie Bonham of Keller, TX; Step-Sister Nicky Bunch and her husband Dale of Lipan, TX; and great grandchildren Hunter, Grayson, Courtney, Alexis, and Cayden; special sister in-law Jean Ambrose (Lowell) of Lawton, OK; and special brother in-law AJ Bonham (Pat) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and loving nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association or the A.S.P.C.A. for the prevention of cruelty to animals in Lawon’s honor.

Her celebration of life will be Thursday September 17, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Keller Church of Christ located at 205 S. Elm Street, Keller, TX. There will be a vistation prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45.
