Lawrence Civelli, 83, of Keller, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 26, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Birgu, Malta, in 1937, Lawrence was an altar boy and part of the choir at St. Lawrence Church. He attended technical school in the city of Hamrun and upon graduation, Lawrence apprenticed as a tool and die maker at the dockyards in Cospicua. Lawrence emigrated to the United States in 1957 and lived in Astoria, New York.
Lawrence was an avid soccer player and played for the Maltese Falcons Soccer Club in Astoria in the early 60s.
Attending a wedding in his hometown of Birgu, he met his loving wife, Agnes Tonna, also of Birgu, in 1965. They were married in August of 1966 at St. Lawrence Church in Birgu, Malta, and returned to Astoria, New York, where they started their family. In 1969, they moved to Brentwood, Long Island in New York where they raised their children and continued to reside until the move to Keller, Texas, in 2005 to be near their daughter and son-in-law.
He will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 54 years, Agnes Civelli, his son Lawrence (Robyn) Civelli, his daughter Karen (Steve) Flowers; his sister Imelda (Charles) Pace of Riverhead, New York; and his three grandchildren, Courtney, James and Caitlyn.
He is preceded in death by his son James Civelli; his parents James and Mary Civelli; brothers Joe Civelli and Michael Civelli, sisters Annie Magro and Evelyn Portelli.
Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas, on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 1:30 PM followed by Mass Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Burial service at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM.
