Lawrence (Larry) Thomas Grohman, age 80 of Keller, Texas, passed away surrounded by loving family on December 2nd, 2023.
Larry was born to devoted parents Elizabeth (Bocian) and Albert Grohman on September 29th, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Chicago and Matteson, Illinois. He entered the United States Navy out of High School in July of 1961 and served his country with honor as a radio operator. He was discharged into the reserves in September of 1964. He was in managerial positions with Ingersoll-Rand for 25 years. During that time, promotions took him to New Jersey, Texas, Tennessee and then back to Texas.
Larry married the love of his life, Paula Raso, July 23rd, 1977. Together they moved to Texas in 1991 where they owned and operated a Sir Speedy Printing franchise in North Richland Hills, Texas until 2011, when they retired to focus more time and energy on their family, friends and their golden years.
Larry had a love of the great outdoors, and could often be found hunting and fishing with family and friends. For many years he was a member of the Texas Gun Owners Shooting Club, the range being a place of refuge and relaxation for him. Even after leaving the Navy, Larry continued a hobby as a ham radio operator, his call sign being K5LTG.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Albert Grohman; and his son, Steven Grohman.
Lawrence is survived by his adoring wife, Paula (Raso) Grohman; his sister, Dorothy Grohman; his daughters and their husbands, Paula-Jo and Ron Carter, and Carla and Brad Phelps; his sons, Michael Patti and Tommy Grohman, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his precious, loving dog Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The family welcomes guests for a final farewell visitation for Lawrence at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas on Sunday, December 10th, 2023 from 2-4 o’clock p.m. A private cremation will take place after the visitation.
