74-year-old Lawrence Allen Temerowski, husband and best friend to Susan (Fritz) Temerowski, died December 24th, 2023 due to an intraventricular bleed. He took his last breath at Medical City Fort Worth Hospital in Texas. (Lar had exceptional nurses and physicians during his stay at the hospital).
Larry was born January 15, 1949 in Hamtramck, Michigan to Walter and Dagmar (Bergman) Temerowski. He was the oldest of their two sons.
In 1967 he started his railroad career (following several family members) as a telegrapher/operator for New York Central. Larry worked at numerous towers and cities in Michigan. By retirement he had worked for several railroad lines: NY Central, Penn Central, Conrail, Burlington Northern, and BN Santa Fe. Over the course of his career he mastered various positions. An offer from BN in 1995 brought Lar, Sue, Kit and Jes to Texas. Lar finished his railroad employment at BNSF as a train dispatcher and retired in January 2009.
September 19, 1969 was a special day. Larry and Sue were married. They had 54 wonderful and amazing years together and raised two incredible daughters.
Their life was interrupted due to his enlistment into the Navy Reserves (1969 to 1972). His training took place in Pensacola, Florida (1970). Then he was stationed in the Philippines as a CTT3 in the Naval Security group under the NSA. Once home, he finished his Associates Degree in Business.
To describe Lar: He loved our awesome God. He was loyal and faithful, sharp-minded, quick-witted, open and soft hearted, stubborn (patience may not have been as big as his heart), and had strength in opinion and love. He found it harder to receive than to give. He would help anyone; even if it meant standing over one and talking. He loved to read, read, read. His love of history allowed him to be a self-made mentor. He also enjoyed working on his (numerous) guns.
His exquisite taste in music, and his humor, has trickled down to his daughters and granddaughters... and will most likely continue for generations (along with the family's poor timing).
Lar had and enormous love for his granddaughters. He cherished this time with them.
Lar has left a definite footprint in our lives.
When Larry and Sue's daughter, Kristen Ilene died August 29, 2022 they were devastated. Lar was extremely supportive, yet found it difficult to be consoled. The heartbreak of losing Kit, along with his 14-year battle of continuous ankle pain due to a failed ankle replacement, accelerated his gradual physical decline, especially over the past year.
But now - Lar is with Kristen. And both are in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Larry and Sue's youngest daughter Jessica shared her contemplation on her dad's death:
"You were there when I took my first breath. I was there when you took your last. Somehow this comforts me."
Larry was preceded in death by his daughter Kristen Ilene, his parents Walter and Dagmar, his brother Gary, in-laws Charles and Lillian Fritz, and brother-in-law Tony Calcatera.
Larry is survived by his wife Suan; daughter Jessica Keyne Reddick (Eren); granddaughters Leah Holden (dad Jeremy) and Lennon Reddick; sister Sherrie Aikman; Pop's puppy pal Morgan; brother-in-law Charles Fritz Jr.; sisters-in-law Charlene Barringer, Lois Fritz, Laura Frazier (Scott) and Elizabeth Hadjis (John Sullivan); nephews Jarrett Barringer, Matthew Puroll and Brian Temerowski (Calais); nieces Megan Brewer (Phill, Madelyn & Haley), Jenna Moesta (Josh), Rachel Hadjis, Cathey and Jenny Temerowski, and Michele, Yvonne & Nichole Aikman; along with numerous other Temerowski and Bergman cousins; and dear friends Gene and Vickie Hoch, and Tom and Ingrid Kroeger.
Larry had a family only viewing December 27th, 2023. He looked very peaceful in his favorite flannel shirt. His earth suit will be cremated and eventually be placed directly above Kristen's niche in Michigan.
There will be a memorial service in Texas, date to be announced.
