Lee Douglas Gassett

June 13, 1971 — September 20, 2022

Lee Douglas Gassett, devoted husband and father, passed away Tuesday September 20, 2022 after a brief illness. He passed peacefully, with his wife by his side.

He was born June 13, 1971 in Odessa, Tx to Doug and Brenda Gassett. It’s this part of His story that his wife would want you to know that she wouldn’t be born for many, many years later.

He grew up in Stephenville, TX and graduated High School there. Prior to high school he attended school in Morgan Mill, TX where his Mom was a teacher. They will both tell you about that one year she taught him in class. In fact, it might have even been the very next year that he switched schools for a bit. He received his bachelors degree from Tarleton State University while working his way through college at H-E-B. If anyone from H-E-B is reading this, we are sure his dying wish was for you to build that store in Alliance already.

Lee built a career in the financial industry, spending 16 years with Fidelity Investments, and most recently had started working for John Hancock. He would tell you he only worked to give his family the life they were deserving of. He delighted in giving his wife and daughters new experiences. He loved traveling with his family. Well, except for road trips, which was apparently a lifelong ire of his. He also loved to give them local experiences, especially the ones that spoke to his quirky personality and interests. He enjoyed cooking for his girls, trying new recipes and ideas out on them, they worked most of the time. He was proud that his girls loved a good steak as much as he did and he would want it written here that his Brisket was second to none.

Lee’s favorite thing was his family. His smile was big and eyes would sparkle when he talked about his daughters Ruthie and Millie. He was a devoted father and husband who showed his family, without fail, how much they were loved. He talked of them often, and if you had a conversation with Lee, you likely left it knowing how funny Millie is and how strong Ruthie is.

Lee also loved his wife, Jaunna, dearly. He never missed a moment to express his love to her, and there were many as they spent a lot of time together, both working from home. Despite that they still had things to talk about every day. We are sure Lee is now wondering how Jaunna will know what is going on in the news or politically now that he is not giving her constant commentary of both. And he is definitely worried that his family will never again have ironed clothes to wear, or fresh coffee made to drink. Lee knew Jaunna’s limits.

There is a Lee sized hole in the hearts of those he is survived by: His wife Jaunna and daughters Ruthie Sanchez, 16 and Millie Gassett, 5 of Keller, Tx. His Mom and Dad, Brenda and Doug Gassett of Fort Worth, Tx. His Brother Justin and his wife Jen, nieces and nephew Julia, Jack and Jocelyn of Grapevine, TX, along with so many dear family members, friends and colleagues.

The family would love to hear all of your stories about Lee during his visitation at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Tx on Monday September 26th from 6-8pm. We will celebrate his life, and all of the ways he showed his love to us on Tuesday, September 27th at 2:00pm, also at Lucas. Immediately following the service the family invites you to love on them and share a meal at the Courtyard Marriott Alliance: 3001 Amador Dr, Fort Worth, Tx 76177.
