Lee Roy Jackson, 92, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Trinity Baptist Church in Arlington, Burial: Aurora Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.
He married Dorothy June McKee on June 13, 1946. The following Sunday, Rev. Whatley at the Aurora Baptist Church appointed him as a Sunday School teacher at 18 years of age. He was ordained to the ministry sometime in the early 1950's and began to pastor his first church in January, 1955 at Agnes Baptist Church. He stayed there until 1961 when he was called to pastor the Immanuel Baptist Church in Decatur. He was pastor there until his retirement in 2003. Lee Roy not only preached the Word, he lived the Word! He always had a smile on his face. He never met a stranger and was always ready to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
At around 80 years of age, Lee Roy moved to Fort Worth and found a job at Lucas Funeral Home. He worked there until he was 90 when he reluctantly retired again. He was never happier than when he was on the road for Lucas. (Scary thought: Lee Roy in his 80's driving a couple of hundred miles a day around the Metroplex.
Survivors: Son, Ron Jackson and wife Diane; grandchildren, Amy Blankenship and husband Keith and Julie Jackson and husband Ross; great-grandson, Henry Jackson; sisters, Mary Lois Barlow and Faye Griffin and husband Robert and many other loving family members and friends.
