Dr. Leigh Anne Romer was a true Trailblazer. Leaving Canada as a young woman, she struck out on her own to begin her professional career as an educator in inner city Dallas teaching in a behavioral unit at Regan elementary. It was there where she first inspired many children to seek success through education. She then went on to Northwest ISD with positions at Medlin and Pike middle schools, Beck elementary, and finally as Principal of JC Thompson elementary, the “Best School in the Universe.” In her career she left a legacy of excellence and leadership. Along the way, she earned a bachelors, masters, and a doctorate in Education. She prided herself on the culture she created, the relationships she built, the leaders she developed, and most importantly, the children’s lives she impacted.
She met and married Paul in 2006 and raised 2 beautiful children, Sofia, a graduate of Byron Nelson high school, and Patrick, a rising Sophomore at Northwest High School. More than anything, her life was defined by her family. Their successes were hers to celebrate and their struggles were hers to uplift. She was a devoted mother and wife, daughter and sister, niece and cousin.
