Leonard Francis Asbury of Haltom City passed away at the age of 70 on June 20, 2023 in North Richland Hills, Texas. He was born September 21,1952 in Fresno, California, the eldest of five children born to Francis and Darlene Asbury.
Leonard was drafted into the United States Army in 1972 and served until 1976 as a “Computer Guy”. He rejoined and served again from 1981 to 1991 as a Signals Intelligence Analyst. He attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, California, and following his military service, Merced College in Merced, California. Building radios and working with electronics since the age of nine, he fulfilled a childhood dream by working as a Quality Systems Engineer with Motorola when he moved to Texas in 1999.
Len was highly intelligent and strong willed. He was also a tender-hearted man who lovingly tended his "old garden" roses and spent many happy hours petting his cats. An avid audiophile, Len had a taste for jazz, Frank Zappa, and 1970’s Japanese Rock Music. He enjoyed building computers and stereo equipment. He was known for being good with his hands, as he could fix almost anything. Most importantly, Leonard was a savvy shopper with a keen eye for quality and value in clothing, housewares, construction and art.
Leonard is survived by his wife Barbara, whom he married on December 17, 2003, as well as his daughter Creation Desautels, and son Justice Asbury.
