Leonard Howard Lawrence Jr.

September 17, 1960 — October 10, 2017

Leonard is dancing to the Bee Gees in heaven with his signature moves, but no longer with the pain that wracked his mortal body. He continued his journey of eternal progression on October 10, 2017, where he can now travel freely to any destination. Leonard was born on September 17, 1960 in Reno, Nevada to Leonard Howard Lawrence Sr. and Carlyle Martella Wood. He grew up in Sacramento, California and in Reno. Leonard worked hard at an early age, helping to support his mother. He was a strong and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after converting at the age of 14. He served in the Bahia Blanca Argentina Mission where he learned to speak fluent Spanish, which he used often in his life to serve others. Leonard started his educational pursuits at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where he met his best friend, soul mate, and eternal travel companion, Linda Lee Broadhead. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple on April 29, 1983 and set out on a series of grand adventures together.
Leonard and Linda proved time and again that they could bloom (and flourish) anywhere they were planted. They lived in California, Wyoming, Idaho, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Utah and Texas. Their first big move was to Lincoln, Nebraska where Leonard attended school at the University of Nebraska, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Anatomy and Microbiology. He later earned his MBA and was working on his Doctorate.
During their time in Idaho, the most perfect child (at least according to Leonard) was born-- Aaron Howard Lawrence. Seven years later in Nebraska, the sun rose again on the most perfect child, daddy’s little girl, Hannah Lee. Leonard had more successes in his life than can be recounted, but his greatest accomplishments and his crowning glory were his children, Aaron and Hannah Lee. He was extremely proud of their many talents, their intelligence, kind hearts and their life choices. Leonard loved his daughter-in-law Melissa and son-in-law Alex like they were his own children. He was blessed in his life with the love of a close-knit family who genuinely loved and enjoyed one another.
The only thing that topped Leonard’s children in his mind were his beautiful, perfect grandchildren, Liam and Conor. He loved to play with his boys, dance with them to his LP albums, and make up songs together. Leonard loved music and he loved to dance. He was known for pulling anyone onto the dance floor to let loose and have fun. Leonard had the most generous, giving nature, which can be attested to by his many friends, family, ward members and too many strangers to remember and count. Leonard gave the best hugs in the entire world, leaving no doubt that you were loved.
Leonard spent most of his career in the pharmaceutical industry. His last career opportunity took the family from Utah to North Richland Hills, Texas where Leonard worked as a Regulatory Affairs Director at Sovereign. Leonard’s career gave him the privilege of taking his best friend Linda all over the world to Ireland, Scotland, England, Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, Switzerland, Hawaii, Mexico and many trips to Washington D.C. Together they took pleasure in the sights, sounds and tastes of places that most people only dream of seeing.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 34 years Linda Lee; son Aaron (Melissa) Lawrence; daughter Hannah (Alex) Hoehn; grandchildren Liam and Conor; sister Margie (Lou) Moon. His father-in-law Dennis Broadhead loved him as his own son. Leonard was part of a large extended family of sisters and a brother who loved him dearly and will miss him.
