Lewis D. Jones

It is with great sorrow that we announce Lewis Dudley Jones passed away on Friday May 5th, 2023. He was the oldest son of parents Royce Weldon and Annie Elizabeth Jones. He was born March 15th, 1952.
He is survived by his beloved wife Judy Anderson, his children Nicholas (Nicole), Justin (Bonnie), and Darla; his stepchildren Caroline Anderson-Pflum (Justin Stokes), Billy Anderson (Bailey) and Jackie Finley (Johny); his former wife Cindy Jones, his grandchildren Allie, Surrétte, Penelope, Kaiah, Ophelia, Delilah, Daphne, Mabel, Ward, and dear Kennedy; his brother, Steven Jones (Norma), and sister, Loretta Pettijohn (Chuck); in-laws Nancy and Paul Etsekson, Cindy and Sandy Levy, and Geoff Altman (Karen Hamm); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many many friends.
Lewis was a wonderful and genuine person, unique and creative, kind and caring. Lewis also had a very bright sense of humor graced with good timing and wit…. to say the least. A loving father to all his children and grandchildren, he worked very hard to raise them up with opportunity and wisdom. Lewis was a man of great personality. Cultured in many respects, he was an intelligent and charming person. He was skilled and had a way of figuring things out by ingenuity alone. He was also a successful businessman, owning and operating Jones Diesel for just shy of 50 years.
He enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking, ice cream, seafood, peaches, polka dancing, loud music, motorcycles, fast cars, his family, and just having a good time. He lived big and he loved big. He persevered and he did it with a smile and grace until the very end. And now, while we miss him dearly, he is at peace and his spirit is with God. Amen!
A celebration of his life will be July 29th at 1pm at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W Wall St, Grapevine, TX 76051
