Linda Lou Campbell Bowden of Keller passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of Keller United Methodist Church, 1025 Johnson Road, Keller. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 South Main St., Keller.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Keller United Methodist Church, Greater Keller Women’s Club Foundation, or to a charity of your choice in Linda’s memory.
Linda was born Feb. 18, 1941, in Wynnewood, Okla. As an extraordinary philanthropist, she and her husband have provided scholarships in memory of their daughter, Holly, for more than twenty years to Keller High School graduates. As a former high school business teacher at LD Bell High School and a Keller ISD Board member for 12 years, public education was one of her many passions. She served on the Bowie Education Foundation and loved being a Bowie High School Jackrabbit as she was a member of their 1955 State Championship Basketball team. She also attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Boomer Sooner!
Her volunteerism began with PTA and ended as an active member of Greater Keller Women’s Club and the Greater Keller Women’s Club Foundation raising monies to give back to the community. She was also heavily involved in the recent planning of the new GKWC facility, The Bowden: Events and Weddings.
Linda was preceded in death by her daughter, Holly Lynn Bowden; her parents, Lucile and Doyle Campbell; and her sister-in-law, Linda Ruth Campbell.
Survivors: Husband of 44 years, Don Bowden and their children, Donna Winborn (Dennis) of Plano and Clay (Cynthia) Bowden of Decatur; one brother, Bill Morris Campbell of Plano; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her very special “mentor,” Bliss (Daniel) Nelson of Athens and their four children who were also blessed to call her “MiMi”; as well as a host of many friends and family dear to her
