Linda was born 28 January 1943 in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Earline Meadows Humphries and J.T. Humphries, and was their only child. She spent her young years moving often from place to place, mostly in Louisiana.
When Linda was a teenager the family settled in Shreveport, and she graduated from Fair Park High School in 1961. She went to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, then transferred to Centenary College in Shreveport. She majored in Geology and her interest in rocks was lifelong. She graduated in 1967, that same year she married Neil Martin Trichel at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on 16 of September.
Soon they moved to Baton Rouge for Martin to attend Law School, and Linda completed her Bachelor's Degree at LSU. There they welcomed their only son Neil Martin Trichel II. During that time, she entered the banking profession and many years later she retired as Trust Officer in Corporate Trust.
They moved back to Shreveport and Linda went to work at Commercial National Bank. She later retired and went to work at Centenary College, first in the financial department and later in alumni relations. Linda retired again and soon began helping her friends Don and Beth Russell in their bookstore. When Don retired, she bought out his share for a bottle of (very good!) red wine. For 15 years Linda and Beth worked together in the Used and Rare book business. From that she retired once more at the end of 2021, planning to move to Justin, Texas, to be near Neil, Sarah, and their family.
It was not to be. In the midst of changing houses, sorting and packing a lifetime's worth of treasures Linda died on 24 July 2022 in Fort Worth Texas.
Linda was a naturalist and outdoorswoman at heart. Besides her rocks, she loved to grow her garden, raising many native plants, especially native Azaleas of many colors, and she loved to cook, and eat the veggies she grew. She knew the local birds, plants, and bugs, and was a determined fisherlady. Linda and Martin made many hiking trips in the Weymanouche mountains of Colorado, and paddled their whitewater canoes in the mountain streams of Arkansas. After Martin's death in 2007, Linda traveled the world with her sister in law, Kathy and occasionally other friends and family.
Linda's departure leaves a great hole in the lives of those who survive her: Her children Neil Martin Trichel II, Sarah Cohea Trichel and her granddaughters Olivia and Veronica that she was so proud of, and Sarah's mother Peri Cohea. Her Brother-in-Law Mickey Trichel and Sister-in-Law Kathy Howard Trichel of Alexandria, VA. Her Sister-in-Law Eileen Trichel Baldwin and Brother-in-Law David Baldwin of Glendale, AZ, and their daughters, Jeanette Brown, and children Emma, Hope, Grace and Evan and Tatiana and two children, Amalie and Lucien. Her many cousins, who were very special to her as she had no siblings, and her special Shreveport friends Beth Gibbs Russell and Karen Post.
Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Lucas Funeral Chapel, 1601 South Main Street, Keller, Texas 76248.
