Lissa Joyce Sieja

December 27, 1959 — November 24, 2021

Lissa Joyce Sieja is at peace with her beloved Lord and Savior. Lissa was born Melissa Joyce Hawks to Dean and Joyce Hawks. Her early life included spending a lot of time in the outdoors and helping with her family’s nursery, which helped spark her lifelong passion for gardening. She loved being a mother and did her very best to ensure her family was taken care of. This included working full time at a meat market while going to school to get a degree in internet technology. She worked for BNSF railroad in the IT department and went back to school to further her education.

She met Dr. Scott Sieja in 2003. With Scott she built the foundations of a deep and lasting love and married him on October 1st, 2005. Lissa and Scott brought out the best in each other with mutual love and respect which brought personal growth, spiritual growth, and gave both the opportunity to do more together than they ever could have apart. Lissa was always fascinated by planes, which led her to spend time as a professional Wing Walker on a Stearman biplane, performing aerobatic stunts at air shows. Always eager to learn and help others, she also trained as a raw food chef as well as a licensed massage therapist. She was the office manager, patient coordinator, billing specialist and so much more for over 15 years at a Chiropractic office.

As much as she disliked insurance, she loved helping people on their path to good health. This was especially true as she was able to enjoy working each day with her husband Scott and her son Jeff Zwierstra in a true family practice. Out of all her roles and titles in life the one she enjoyed the most was that of Grandma Lissa. She was beloved by her grandchildren and she lavished her affection, time, and energy on them. She was the happiest when around children and had an especially close bond with Jackson, Zoey, and Melinda Zwierstra. As difficult as her passing is to bear, her great faith in Jesus Christ gives joy and comfort to those of us who miss and love her so much.
