Lois Marie Cary

May 3, 1930 — June 27, 2021

Lois Marie Cary, of Southlake, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 27th, 2021 at the age of 91. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Lois was born in Bryan, Ohio on May 3, 1930 to LaVon and Euterpa (Kissaberth) Culler. She attended West Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Montpelier, Ohio throughout her childhood. Lois graduated from Bryan High School in 1948 and furthered her education at Bowling Green State University. She earned her Registered Nursing Degree from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She married Philip William Cary on January 2, 1954 in Bryan, Ohio and was happily married to him for 42 years until his death.

Lois enjoyed a rewarding career as a nurse for 30 years. After nursing, she pursued her license as a real estate agent and sold real estate in Baton Rouge, LA and Las Cruces, NM for another 30 years. After retiring at age 80, she moved to Southlake, TX to be closer to family. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her new friends at Watermere Senior Condominiums and was grateful to be able to watch her great-grandchildren begin their life journeys. She was the “Belle of the Ball” at Watermere and loved participating in group outings, bridge games, craft classes, social get-togethers, and spending time with her special friend, Owen Miller. She slowed down as she approached age 90 and developed Alzheimer’s disease, but still regularly attended church and visited with her family and friends.

Lois is survived by her three children, Steven Russell Cary, Jeffrey William Cary (Janice), and Cynthia Lavonne Cary Bacon (Bruce); grandchildren Jason Cary, Bennett Bacon, Brittany Cary Gipson, Tyler Bacon, Andrew Cary, Mallory Cary, Madison Cary, and Hudson Cary; and great-grandchildren Aubrey Bacon, Ellie Bacon, and Cullen Gipson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Phil, brother Ralph, and sister Evadna.

Private services will be held at Keller United Methodist Church in Keller, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org .
