Lonnie Roy Mansfield, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025 in Bedford, Texas. Born in Austin, Texas, on February 28, 1936, Lonnie's path was illuminated by his deep Christian faith that guided him through the many chapters of his life.
In 1954, Lonnie married the love of his life, June Eckman, beginning an extraordinary partnership that spanned over seven decades. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with warmth, tenderness, and shared dreams. As they built their lives together, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Mitch and Teri. Lonnie’s joy in life was clear, and his family was always at the core of everything he did.
Lonnie's professional life as a Commercial Fire State Analyst was a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication. Yet, it was his spiritual service that truly defined him. At Peace Lutheran Church, Lonnie was an elder and a beloved figure, enriching the lives of countless people. Additionally, Lonnie was devoted to bringing communion to those unable to attend church—ensuring they were not forgotten and always remembered in the community's prayers.
A man of infinite kindness, Lonnie was known for being generous to a fault. He had a contagious love of storytelling, and his tales were as vibrant as his spirit.
He is survived by his devoted wife June, daughter Teri Mansfield, grandson Leland Sauer and wife Tammy, granddaughter Lesli Jaimes and husband Froylan, granddaughter Kristin Frank and husband David, granddaughter Randi Dultz and husband Tim, 6 great-granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons, 2 great great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends each of whom holds his legacy in their hearts, guiding them forward with his love and teachings. Predeceased by his father, Lonnie Ray Mansfield, his mother, Minnie Bell Mansfield, his son Mitch Mansfield, and his siblings Edward Mansfield, Dorothy Finger, and Charles Mansfield. Lonnie leaves behind a family tree rooted deeply in love and remembrance.
Lonnie Roy Mansfield lived a life full of love, faith, and generosity. His legacy is cherished by all who had the privilege to know him, and his spirit will continue to be a guiding light for his family, friends, and community.
