Loretta Mae Farr

January 16, 1933 — March 7, 2020

On Monday, January 16, 1933 in Bigelow, Missouri farmer Mervin and his wife Marie were swelling with joy over the birth of their new baby girl, Loretta Mae. Loved and growing quickly, Loretta with her sister Alice where the children of the good people enjoying and thriving by making a living off the land growing produce for the surrounding community.
Then in the late 1930's Mervin, Marie, Alice and Loretta would move to a town where the livestock would outnumber the human population of only 199.
Surrounded by vast golden wheat fields covered and divided by hundreds of miles of dirt roads, fresh spring and summer rains, Loretta would attend schools to graduate Valedictorian from a class of 2 students, but don't let the Class of 2 fool you. Loretta was a smart beautiful young woman. Moving to Denver, Colorado a few years after graduation Loretta was leaving the farm behind for a new big and wonderful life.
Working as an office aide and beginning a life of helping others Loretta volunteered with the Fitzsimmons Veterans Hospital where she met Eugene Eawin Farr who was know as Bill. An Army Service Veteran of the Korean War.
Dating for a short period of time, Bill and Loretta were married June 12, 1953 shortly after giving birth to their first of 3 boys her new family would leave Denver and move to Bill’s hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. Living with his parents John and Lela Farr and their new small family would eventually buy their first home in Hurst, Texas. Loretta spent her early days raising children and studying shorthand. Landing a job with Cummins Engineer Company credited to her wit, smarts and hard work ethic. Loretta all the while taking care of her 3 boys and husband, making friends and brightening the lives of all she met.
The years past, her 3 boys, Richard, Leslie and Steve grew to adults with their own families and Loretta retires as the Executive Secretary Manger for the Cummins Engineers Dallas office. In her retirement, Loretta gave countless hours to volunteer work, a career in its own right. From counseling recently widowed woman to helping the police on domestic violence calls she was a lady always ready to generously and lovingly share her time and life experience.
Loretta has two main loves of her life, her love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and her family which she loved joy and happiness to her sons and many grandchildren. Whether it was in the birth of a new grand baby or just baking cookies, Loretta-Mimi was a constant and admired part of all the family’s life.
Loretta was the kind of friend who would show up at events with the Starbuck’s “extra hot” tall skinny Mocha saving seats for friends. All in the unselfishness that was Loretta Mae Farr.
Loretta was one of constant goodness and wisdom which touched the lives of unknown numbers. She was the candle in the window to light the path home.
Loretta was Mom to 3 sons, Mimi to her grandchildren and a good loyal friend to all who knew her.
In the time of her passing, Loretta’s family will celebrate in the joy and love of her life of serving all she knew. In honor of the light Loretta Mae Schenck-Farr there is now one less candle to light the path though this world.
