Loretta Carol Spears

Loretta Carol Spears passed away on September 24, 2018 in Fort Worth. She was 81 years of age and a loving wife, mother, and MaMa and will be dearly missed.

Service: 10 am, Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1601 S. Main St., Keller. Graveside: 2:30 pm, Saturday in Sunset Cemetery in Sunset. Visitation: 6 to 8 pm, Friday at the funeral home.

Loretta was born on March 20, 1937 in Lamesa, Texas to Jesse James and Lila Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and four sisters. She was the 9th born of 10 children. Loretta grew up in Sunset and graduated from Bowie High School in 1955. After graduation she moved to stay with family in Denver, Colorado. Later she moved to the Fort Worth area where she met her future husband. Loretta married the love of her life, Gerald Spears on December 20, 1957 after meeting two and half months earlier through family members. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary at a Reception in their home with many friends and family last December. The Spears' lived in Fort Worth, Haltom City, Smithfield, Hurst, Keller, Angel Fire New Mexico, and Lake Hills during the past 60 years. They were former members of the Birdville Baptist Church, Kings Highway Baptist Church, and Smithfield Baptist Church.

Loretta and Gerald both loved to travel. They toured all over the United States, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and went on several cruises to the Caribbean. They also enjoyed spending their summers at their mountain home in Angel Fire, New Mexico before Loretta's health declined. Prior to moving back to Fort Worth in the summer of 2017, they were residing at the Lake Medina RV Resort in Lake Hills, Texas.

Survivors: Loretta is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gerald Spears; daughters, Pam Becknal and husband, Ronny, and Kim McDonald; grandchildren, Jon McDonald, Matthew Becknal, Lee McDonald, Jef McDonald, Kristin Becknal, Jessica Seidl and husband, Josh, and Natalie Waller and husband, Michael; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Parker, Lexi, A.J., Collins, and Austin; godson, Blake; and numerous other family and friends.
