Lottie Mae Whitaker

August 18, 1930 — July 17, 2019

Lottie Mae Ware Walker Whitaker, age 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 17th, 2019 in Keller, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church Grapevine, in Founder’s Chapel on August 5th at 11:00 am.

Lottie was born on August 18th, 1930 at home in Dallas, Texas to Carl Clifton and Lottie Mae (Buffington) Ware. She graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1948. Lottie immediately went to work for the First National Bank of Dallas in the bookkeeping department, until she met and married Allen Robb Walker. They moved to Fort Pierce, Florida where they raised three children.

Lottie later remarried the love of her life, Jack Whitaker. They were inseparable through the years as she cared for him until his death in 2010. She returned home to Texas to live out her life closer to family.

Lottie was loved by all who met and knew her. She cherished being surrounded by her friends and family, and when they gathered, Lottie was always in the center. Her sweet smile, and quiet countenance will be dearly missed.

Lottie Mae was preceded in death by her husband Jack Whitaker; her parents, Carl and Lottie Ware; sisters, Sue Towe, and Margaret Jordan; and brothers, William and Clifton Ware.

She is survived by her children: Allen Robb Walker Jr., Barbara Jean Maness (Mark) and David Walker (Karen); sister, Barbara Freeman (Errol); step sons Jim Whitaker(Liz) and Jay Whitaker, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Benevolence Fund, FUMC Grapevine, 422 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas 76051.
