Lowell Glen “Papadeaux” Stivison broke his earthly bonds and gained his Heavenly wings on March 20, 2023. There must be a grand reunion (aka crawfish boil) at the Gates of Heaven where his parents (Frank and Catherine), sister (Cathy) and numerous aunts and uncles are welcoming him home.
Lowell was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on June 23, 1945 (his mother’s birthday), making him the best birthday gift she ever received! He graduated from LaGrange High School and went on to McNeese State University where he graduated with a degree in Horticulture and, most importantly, met the love of his life, Priscilla.
He married his sweetheart July 15, 1967 and they set off in married bliss. They were blessed with six children over the next 16 years. His expertise in his field led to a long and successful career in Agricultural Research and the Agri-chemical business that took them from Houston to the Rio Grande Valley to Monticello, Arkansas (where they spent 19 years in a grand, old Victorian farmhouse making a lifetime of wonderful memories). Lowell and Priscilla moved to Bedford, Texas in 2008 and spent 15 years making even more fond memories with family, friends and neighbors. Lowell volunteered with the Bedford Police Department’s VIPS (Volunteers in Policing Service) for nine years patrolling with his team to help make Bedford a safer place. He also enjoyed being a part of Bedford PD’s Santa’s Helpers each Christmas. He was a man of strong faith and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors, but most of all, he loved his family, telling his grandchildren silly jokes in a Cajun accent, and sitting with his wife and children drinking a Manhattan.
Those of us lucky enough to have had him in our lives are better for it. He will be missed and forever held in the hearts of his wife of 55 years, Priscilla, his children, Sarah Rocha (Mario), Laure Birchfield (Robert), Mary Williams (Buddy), Glen Stivison (Renee), Art Stivison (Emily) and Shannon Stivison, twelve grandchildren, his brother, Ralph Stivison (Janice) and sister Lorna Marsh (Dale), his 97-year-old aunt and godmother, Rita Lewis, and multitudes of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends far and wide.
