Lucretia Kathrine Hobbs

Lucretia Kathrine (Varvil) Hobbs was born on January 12, 1941 in Borger, Texas to the late Jewel (Holloway) Varvil and Harry Varvil. She joined her Lord in Glory on January 17, 2023 from Hurst, Texas at the age of 82 years old.

She finished high school at the age of fifteen and started college the next fall. Lucretia was a double major in business and education and had a minor in voice. While Lucretia was known for her beautiful voice, she was also highly successful in becoming one of the most distinguished direct mail consultants in fundraising and publications in America.

Lucretia was an incredible woman. She served as a pastor’s wife, mother, music director, women’s ministry leader, vocalist, director of publications for many high-profile ministries nationwide. Maybe most importantly, she was a wonderful grandmother (Mimi). She made every person around her feel at home and welcome and she always had a kind word for everyone. Every time she walked into the room, she owned it and looked flawless. She was a sucker for anything burgundy or gold and heaven forbid, both. Lucretia’s physical and stately beauty never surpassed her Godly beauty. She was true to her calling as a minister of the Gospel, she was ever faithful to God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Jewel Varvil. She left behind her loving husband of 63 years, Jerry Hobbs; daughter, Robin Blair; grandchildren, Brandon Koontz and his wife Jennifer and their children, Brayden, Ayden, and Lilly-Ann; Amanda Stankoski and husband, Marc and their children, Caleb and Cody; Victoria Rachael and her children, Braxton and Aurora; and Abigail Knodl and husband Kurt and their children, Allison and Chase.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel in Hurst followed by the funeral service at 5:00 P.M.
