Luis Valdez

Luis Valdez Montelongo, age 62, passed on to a better life, Monday, November 16, 2015.

Born July 1, 1953 in Hidalgo, Texas to Paulo Valdez and Maria Montelongo. As a young man, he chose hard work instead of education. Even without a formal education, he managed to find work picking seasonal fresh fruit in the Rio Grande Valley McAllen, Mercedes, & Mission. He was the happiest in the open fields of Texas. In 1989 he was very proud to start working for The Bank & Trust of Del Rio, Texas as a general handyman. He was loyal, kind, funny, and a friend to many people in Del Rio where he built his modest but happy little house. He worked tirelessly on improving his home and he was always working on something. He was a man of many talents.

He is survived by his sweet and lovely wife, Maria Elena Ruiz Valdez; his dear adopted son, Gabriel Ramirez; mother, Maria Montelongo; brothers, Fragedis Valdez, Sylvester Valdez, Elias Valdez, Victor Valdez; sisters, Josephina Valdez, Margarita Valdez, and Irena Valdez.

He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him and we will be praying for his peaceful rest.
