Lura Bess “Lu” Wallis McMinn, graduated to the heavenly choir Saturday morning, December 11, 2021. Lu was born on October 30, 1926 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Joe and Cecil Wallis. She became the baby sister to Joe Jr. and Nell Ruth Wallis, both of whom have graduated this life earlier and are no doubt glad to see her arriving for a complete family reunion. On June 29, 1946, Lu married her sweetheart, Jesse Lavern “Mac” McMinn, who, after 69 years of marriage, scooted on across the finish line to wait for Lu to join him. Also attending that reunion are grandson, Andy McLaurin and great-grandson, Cody Milburn. We are blessed with all of those angels watching over us now.
Lu will be remembered, by all who knew her well, as the beautiful soprano soloist in any Methodist church that held her membership. She sang at countless weddings, graced numerous funerals with songs of praise and comfort; and best of all, sang soothing lullabies to 3 children of her own; not to mention several of her 23 grandchildren. Those children are Shary Davidson, (Cliff) of Cedar Hills, Utah, LuAn McLaurin, (Mike) of Granbury, Texas, and Brad McMinn (Sarah) of North Richland Hills, Texas. Grandchildren include: Mark Milburn, (Tiffany), Holly Richard (Chris), Jennifer Kolz (Buck) all of Utah; Jeremy Davidson (Heidi) of Colorado, Megan Hibbetts (Eric) of Texas and Dustin Ketron (Alexis) of Arizona. To avoid further confusion, the names of great grandchildren are not listed here, but we do want to note that two great -great granddaughters are also to be counted.Lu was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse; her parents, Joe A. and Cecil Ruth Bradford Wallis, brother, Joe A Wallis, Jr.; sister, Nell Ruth Groover; grandson, Andy McLaurin and great-grandson, Cody Milburn.Lu was Mom, Mimi and Aunt Lu to family; a lady who showered us with love, wise counsel, funny stories, lullabies, good food, and oodles of balloons. There is no question she dearly loved and will be missed more than we can express… until that time we join the reunion. But we know that the heavenly choir sounds one amazing soprano better…
And Mom is loving every minute of it!
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that gifts in Lu’s memory be made to the March of Dimes.
