Luther Stripling, 86, died August 11, 2022 at his home. He was born August 25, 1935, in Tignall, Georgia and was the son of Luther Stripling and Catherine Marigna. Luther graduated from Hamilton High School. Following graduation, he received his undergraduate degree from Clark Atlanta University, his masters degree from the University of Kentucky and doctorate from the University of Colorado.
He was a vocal music professor at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL and Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition to his teaching career, he performed recitals and operas throughout the United States, served as conductor for numerous choirs and appeared as featured vocal soloist with orchestras around the country.
His first wife and high school sweetheart, Myrtice Jones predeceased him on January 24, 1996 and his first born son Cedric Stripling predeceased him on January 6, 2022. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Lee Barker. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Stripling, his son Byron Stripling (Alexis), Richard Miller (Lily), Nicole Nixon (Michael), Michelle McMahon (Jeremy), and grandchildren, Julliette Stripling, Paloma Stripling, Lily Victoria Miller, Zachary Nixon, RJ Miller and brother Melvin Marigna.
