Mack Layne

December 30, 1940 — April 24, 2013

Mack Ellison Layne, 72, of Fort worth, Texas left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 24, 2013.
Mack was born in Pampa, TX on December 30, 1940 to Hugh and Anthy Layne. He grew up in Pampa, TX with his family and a large loving extended family. He attended the Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ where he was baptized as a young man. He started playing basketball at an early age. He was a star player for the Pampa Harvesters and played on the state championship teams in 1958 And 1959. He played basketball at both Abilene Christian College and the University of Houston.  He is a graduate of University of Houston.
Mack married Wanda Whitaker in 1968 and they had four children. He was an incredible father who never missed any of his children’s activities. His greatest joy came when he could be with his family and later found that same joy with his grandchildren. He shared his faith by showing love and concern  for not only his family, but everyone he knew.
Mack was an avid fisherman and often said the times he felt the closest to God were early in the morning when he could watch the sun rise over the lake. He always told tall tales about his fishing adventures to anyone who would listen.
In 2005 he married Carolyn and they enjoyed fishing, traveling, sports, and watching their grandchildren grow up. They attended Heritage Church of Christ where they shared a special relationship with their small group.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.  Thank you for celebrating his life with us.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother HA Layne.
