Marceil B. Davis

August 11, 1935 — February 4, 2023

Marceil “Marcy” B. Davis, 87, of North Richland Hills, ended her earthly journey to begin her heavenly residence on Saturday, February 4th, 2023.

Service: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 10th, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Hurst, 1801 Norwood Dr. Hurst, Tx 76054.

Marcy was born on August 11th, 1935, in Austin, TX, to Elmo W. and Dorothy (Bazemore) Day.
Attending high school in El Paso, TX, her contagious personality and movie star looks landed her the Military Queen crown her senior year. Her studious ambitions furthered at UTEP. In 1954, Marcy married her high school sweetheart, Thomas William Jackman. Together, they had 2 sons, Keith and Mark. Tommy was in the 1st Tactical Fighter Squadron. While serving his country in France, due to treacherous weather conditions and instrumental malfunction, Marcy became a young widow just two months after losing her youngest son at the age of 24.

After returning to El Paso, and regaining her footing as a widowed mother, she met Jimmy W. Brewster. The two wed in 1961, before migrating to the DFW area and building a home in Hurst where she resided until January 2020. As her family continued to grow with the births of Lori and Randy, Marcy enjoyed homemaking, motherhood, and socializing with friends and family.

The union of John Barney Davis and Marcy Brewster was formed in 1982. The two enjoyed many travels. As a scientist for Mobil, Barney was invited to Russia for a conference as a featured speaker. While accompanying her husband, she was mistaken for a movie star and presented a full bouquet of flowers. The dignitaries and generals thought she must’ve been famous and were in awe. Together, they enjoyed golf and they always walked the full 18 hole course.

Marcy was a lifetime member of the PTA. She coordinated and established the original library at Shady Oaks Elementary. Marcy was an avid league bowler with “The Hot Rocks”, a contributing member of the Oak Crest Womens Club, played Duplicate Masters Bridge twice weekly, and enjoyed Garden Club. She was also on the Senior Citizens Advisory Board - Chair of the Hurst Senior Activities Center.

Marcy always stated traveling was the best form of education, it was her passion - she was a true TRAVEL LADY. Game nights were a close second. They were competitive which instilled resilience in her opponents. She was a giver who thoroughly enjoyed gifting unique, thoughtful tokens, as it was a love language of hers. As grandchildren arrived, she was affectionately known as Maw Maw. She stayed current on local and worldwide affairs. The Travel Lady was a theater enthusiast, both live and big screen productions, spending several years volunteering at the Fort Worth Bass Hall. Music and dancing put a smile on her face and kept her toes tapping.

Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, father, Elmo Day; mother, Dorothy Kirkpatrick; son, Mark Jackman; grandson, Bobby Godbee; brother, Kenneth Kirkpatrick; spouses, Tommy Jackman, Jimmy Brewster and Barney Davis.

Marcy will be tenderly missed and is survived by sons, Keith Brewster & wife Carolyn; Randy Brewster & partner Cassie; daughter, Lori Harvey & husband Freeman; granddaughters, Mandy Godbee, Ashley Godbee, Chloe Brewster, Sarah Brewster, Hannah Stephens and Heather Daniels; grandsons, Ethan Brewster and Brian Watts; and 8 precious great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ms. Davis’ name to VITAS HOSPICE (vitascommunityconnection.org).

Marcy (Maw Maw) had a knack for making sure everyone in the room felt seen and heard. This was not to just be friendly, but because she truly cared to understand and connect with you individually. She was the epitome of a “people person”.
